"Think about Saturday morning cartoons, this was written with that idea" - this was the selling point from the author. I enjoyed watching Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid and I've been looking for things I could read to the kiddo or send off to my nieces and nephew.
Firstly, this is NOT a graphic novel. There are about 9 drawings in the book to give you imagery of what the book is describing. All of the drawings are black and white, well drawn, and consistent in style.
As compared to some other stories these days, as you read the story you can see the good guys are doing good and trying to protect the innocent and the bad guys just want to do bad guy things. The head villain sits off in his castle of evil and orders his minions about while plotting his villainous plans. There are quippy and punchy lines, sword slashing, laser pew pew, healing magic, danger, and heroics.
This is not something I'd normally read, but it matches my requirements for something I could read to the kiddo and send off to my niece and nephew. This most certainly gives off the vibes of Saturday morning cartoons in written form. It’s a fun and easy read that should, hopefully, make people interested in reading more.
